This project was inspired by the idea of turning something old and meaningful into something new and impactful. I wanted to explore the idea of turning a photograph into something modern hence the cartoon effect. While trying to demonstrate my ambitious father's story of coming to America from Vietnam at 17 years old while leaving his elderly mother behind due to old age. His mother passed away during his long journey to America and this reinvention of his original photograph is an ode to his late mother to let her know he has made it home safely and that he is here with his own family.
